The Allen & Heath ZED60-14FX Analog Mixer With USB combines hands-on analogue mixing with flexible digital recording and onboard effects. Its 14-channel format provides eight mono mic/line inputs and two stereo channels, giving musicians, self-recording artists and venues plenty of connectivity for live performances and recording sessions.
The mixer uses individual vertically mounted channel circuit boards, with rotary controls secured to the front panel using metal nuts. This robust construction is designed to withstand regular live use while also making individual channels easier to service when required.
Low-noise mic preamps
The eight mic/line preamps are based on Allen & Heath's MixWizard preamp design, using discrete transistor circuitry to provide low noise, good linearity and up to 60dB of microphone gain. Each mono input accepts microphone signals through XLR or line-level sources through a 1/4-inch jack, giving you straightforward connectivity for a broad range of equipment.
A 100Hz high-pass filter on the mono channels helps reduce microphone pops, rumble and unwanted low-frequency content. This filter works with signals connected through either the microphone XLR or line input.
Connect guitars directly
Mono channels seven and eight add dedicated Hi-Z instrument inputs. Their ultra-high 10MΩ input impedance minimises loading on instrument pickups, while discrete Class A FET circuitry is designed to emulate the input characteristics associated with valve guitar amplifiers. This lets you connect guitars and other instruments directly without requiring a separate DI box.
A recessed gain boost switch provides an additional 26dB for instruments with lower-output pickups. The FET circuitry also offers soft, asymmetric overdrive characteristics, providing warm second-harmonic character when driven.
Shape each source with MusiQ EQ
The mono channels feature three-band EQ with a sweepable mid frequency, giving you practical control for shaping vocals, instruments and other sources. The mid sweep covers frequencies from 120Hz to 4kHz, making it useful for reducing unwanted low-mid boom or adding presence and intelligibility. High and low EQ sections operate around 12kHz and 80Hz respectively.
The two stereo channels provide two-band EQ with high and low controls, making quick tonal adjustments straightforward when working with keyboards, playback equipment and other stereo sources.
16 integrated digital effects
The ZED60-14FX includes a dedicated digital effects processor with 16 effect types. These range from reverbs and combined delay/reverb treatments to flanger and chorus, giving you useful processing without requiring external effects hardware.
The effects processor uses 24-bit converters operating at 48kHz. Delay tempo can be controlled using the TAP button, while holding TAP provides access to adjustable effect parameters. This makes it easy to tailor the onboard processing to suit different performances and sources.
Flexible USB recording
Integrated USB connectivity provides stereo audio transfer between the ZED60-14FX and a computer. Simply connect the mixer by USB, choose the required routing on the console and select the device on your computer. The USB interface supports 16-bit audio at 32, 44.1 or 48kHz sample rates.
A separately switched stereo Record bus gives you additional control over what is sent for recording. Individual channels can be routed to this bus independently, allowing it to serve as a selective recording bus, monitoring bus or stereo clean-feed output.
Practical control for live sound
A pre-fade auxiliary send provides an independent signal path for monitoring, while the post-fade FX send feeds the onboard processor and FX output. Professional XLR main stereo outputs, separate record and monitor outputs, headphone monitoring and 48V phantom power provide the essential connections needed for stage and recording setups.
Each channel uses a 60mm fader for hands-on level adjustment, while dedicated mute, listen and record controls make routing and monitoring straightforward. An integrated mains power supply also keeps the setup tidy without requiring an external power adaptor.
