Key Features
The Frap Tools Fumana is an all analog dual filter bank offering 2 identical filter arrays. The Fumana provides a total of 16 48dB/oct bandpass filters for each filterbank. Having two identical filter arrays means you can use one for spectral analysis, and the other for spectral re-analysis. This allows you to create spectral effects. With the Frap Tools Fumana it is possible to apply a different signal to odd and even bands, both for main and /or modulator arrays. One channel is equipped with 16 envelope followers, while the other is equipped with 15 VCAs, making it ideal for processing carrier material. It also offers a flat frequency response, and the ability to tilt the spectrum.

The Frap Tools Fumana offers 2 identical filter arrays, which allows you to use one for spectral analysis (of a modulator signal), and the other one for spectral re-synthesis (of the main signal). Each array is sub-grouped into odd and even bands, and it is possible to apply different signals to the odd and even bands, both for the main and/or modulator arrays. The Frap Tools Fumana can perform a single 16 bands or a dual 8 bands 8 analog spectral transfer when connecting the 16 envelope followers to each band of the modulator filterbank, and the 16 VCA to each band of the main filterbank.
The upper section of the module provides you with access to each main filter’s direct output, while the lower section has 4 voltage controllable parameters for managing the tilt and parametric scan functions for further spectral editing. Tilt works by adding and subtracting amplitude to the 16 bands, emphasizing lower or high bands, and attenuating high or lower bands. The control can be adjusted by using the green potentiometer. Parametric scan can be adjusted with the 3 peak/notch, band selector and width parameters, similar to a parametric equalizer. The module uses these 3 parameters to set which centre band is to perform this manipulation, and if that band should then be emphasized or attenuated, and how the action is extended to nearby bands.
The Frap Tools Fumana offers 16 band-pass outputs, and 4 outputs including the all band output, all envelope follower output, odd bands, and even bands output. These 2 can be inverted in phase with 2 switches.
The Frap Tools Fumana offers an input for an external noise that can be used for a vocoder-like effect. It can be used for unvoiced (fricative/sibilants) sounds with words starting and containing S, F, Z, C, and other fricative sounds.
