The PM2 Pat Metheny Signature guitar features a resonant hollow body design, crated from maple for a bright tone with complex overtones and an airy sound. This type of guitar is perfect for jazz players, where the hollow design gives your sound enhanced character and brings out all the nuances of your playing. The body is smoothly-contoured for player comfort, while the single cutaway creates easy access to the top frets.
The 3pc mahogany/maple neck lends the PM2 warmth and resonance, along with a stable action for enhanced tuning stability. The neck features a comfortable profile while the 305mm radius ebony fingerboard is a relatively-flat design giving balance across the strings. The neck is mounted with 22 frets which are finished with Ibanez's Artstar fret edge treatment for an incredibly smooth playing-feel.
The Ibanez Super 58 in the neck features alnico magnets for a warm and musical response. The low-output Super 58 is ideal for letting the character of the guitar translate to your amplifier. In this case, the airy and complex tone of the hollow maple body is enhanced with the warm neck-position pickup sound, giving you the perfect tone for jazz.
The PM2 features a balance of vintage-inspired appointments giving a classy aesthetic for the stage. The bound body and f-holes complement the elegant KT30 tailpiece and gold hardware, while the signature abalone/acrylic split inlays give this guitar an effortlessly stylish look. It's not all just about the looks either; the bone nut provides warmth and sustain while the ART-1 bridge offers full adjustment over string intonation/action and gives optimal string vibration transfer to the body. A hardcase and set of flat-wound strings is included, meaning you'll be gig-ready right out of the box.
Pat Metheny is a world renowned American Jazz guitarist and composer, known for his work in the Pat Metheny Group along with many duets, solo work, and other side projects. It wasn’t until 1974 that Metheny made his first recording debut on the unofficially titled album ''Jaco'', and then went on to release his first official debut album ''Bright Size Life'' in 1967. Over his 40 year career Metheny has won three gold albums and 20 Grammy awards alongside many other achievements.
